Amazon Recommendations 10:10:16 – Must-Have Items for Self-Sufficient Life

Each Monday and Wednesday, I bring you items from Amazon that I personally use or can recommend based on my experience. I consider them critical for modern homesteading, prepping and living more self-sufficiently. Even if you already have one, these items make great presents for your friends and loved ones who aspire to be better prepared.

bolt-powerThe Bolt Power Portable 600 Amp Jump Starter Pack is an absolute must have! This thing can almost fit in your back pocket and will start your car or truck battery when it’s flat dead.

For that reason alone it’s a great idea to have one in every car you own (I do), but it does much more.

For instance, see that air compressor it comes with? Yep, 80 PSI air compressor can inflate your car tires if you have an emergency.

And see those ports on the back? That’s for charging your phones or laptops. It even comes with 7-in-1 adapters to fit various brands of laptops.

I really like the Bolt Power Pack because, look, you don’t want to be stranded without power. Whether it’s for your vehicle, phone or computer. That’s what preparedness is all about–having a backup plan.

That’s what the Bolt Power Pack provides, so check it out.

Amazon Recommendations 10:03:16 – Two Must-Have Items for Self-Sufficient Life

Each Monday and Wednesday, I bring you two items from Amazon that I personally use or can recommend based on my experience. I consider them critical for modern homesteading, prepping and living more self-sufficiently. Even if you already have one, these items make great presents for your friends and loved ones who aspire to be better prepared.

Mr. HeaterThe first item is the Mr. Heater. It’s an indoor safe portable heater fueled by those small propane canisters.

It cranks out up to 9,000 BTU and heats areas up to 200 square feet. That makes it perfect as a prepping item for power outages, or to heat up your tent or camper. Even your deer stand.

This is a handy item to have around…just check out the reviews on Amazon.

pluckerThe second item today is a 24 finger chicken plucker that works with a standard drill.

Raising chickens is part of living a self-sufficient life. And, whether you raise them for meat or eggs, ultimately they all need to be processed.

None of us can afford those big pluckers for home processing, but this 24 finger chicken plucker makes the job easy. Just insert it into your drill and you’re ready to pluck.

Of course, I scaled the birds first, but I do that using this propane turkey deep fryer. Get the water temperature to about 150 degrees, scald the birds for 30 seconds or so with an up and down motion. Then you can easily pluck using the 24 finger chicken plucker.

So there you have it. There are lots of tools you need to live a self-sufficient life, but these are the two I recommend today. If you don’t have them, get them.

EP 5: Mark Goodwin | Prepper | Christian Author [PODCAST]

FROM DRUG ADDICT TO BESTSELLING CHRISTIAN AUTHOR

Some men get trapped in the purple haze of life, only to see the light when God himself answers their prayers from the county jail. This week, I share the story of one such man. A man who kicked his drug addiction to become a prepper and bestselling author of post-apocalyptic Christian novels.

Comfortably Survive Economic Collapse

Survival Tips from the Great Depression

In the years following America’s near economic collapse (Great Recession of 2007-2009), many folks found themselves wondering if far worse times lie ahead. Indeed, an astonishing number of websites, TV shows, books, podcasts and websites (including this one) emerged that focus on preparedness and self-sufficiency.

From zombies to Alaskan homesteaders, the sites and shows are enduring and proving to be very popular. That wouldn’t be the case without a gnawing feeling on the part of the general public that our country may be headed down a troubling path. The polarizing choice between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump seems to have done nothing to calm these fears.

Even if the doomsday people are correct in their claims that the dollar is about to collapse, the government is about to collapse or an EMP is imminent, it doesn’t mean that times have to be tough for you.

A common misconception is that times in The Great Depression, 80 years ago, were tough for everyone. They weren’t.

Amazon Recommendations 9/28/16 – Two Must-Have Items for Self-Sufficient Life

Each Monday and Wednesday, I bring you two items from Amazon that I personally use or can recommend based on my experience. I consider them critical for modern homesteading, prepping and living more self-sufficiently. Even if you already have these, they make great presents for your friends and loved ones who aspire to be better prepared.

leatherman surgeThe first item is my Leatherman Surge Multi Tool. Actually, I can’t believe how often I use this. Literally every day.

Most often I use one of the knives, as it has, of course, completely replaced my pocket knife, since it has two blades.

But I find myself using the wire cutter and pliers just as often. You’d expect that on a homestead. But you’d be surprised how handy this thing is for every day stuff—like those impossible to open molded plastic packages that everything gets in. I just whip this out of the pouch on my belt and it’s done.

Of all the items I recommend, few are higher on the list than my Leatherman Surge Multi Tool.

innogearNext up today are these amazing Innogear Solar Landscape Lights. Only the value to a prepared person is NOT for landscaping, but for power outages.

When there are power outages, people usually figure they’ll use candles, flashlights or lanterns for house lights. Two of those methods pose a risk of fire danger at a time when emergency services may be unavailable.

What I love about these is you leave them outside for “normal” landscape duty, and bring them inside to light up the whole house when you have an outage.

I depend on four of these (two packs) to make sure we’re always…lit. Uh…don’t take that the wrong way.

So there you have it. There are lots of tools you need to live a self-sufficient life, but these are the two I recommend today. If you don’t have them, get them.
